Anbol has the function of supplement
the kidney and benefit the energy, support the liver and clear
the eye, and was used as nourishing, invigorating and positive
supporting agent in traditional Chinese medicine. Studies about
Anbol have long been appeared in the world, and researchers thought
that it not only has above functions, but also can inhibit the
growth of cancer cells, enhance the phagocytosis funciton of reticuloendothelial
cells, and the immune-promoting function of Anbol had been demonstrated
from many aspects through studies on the effect of Anbol on the
immune function. In recent years, following the development of
the chinese medicine, great advancement had been made of the study
on the aspect of immune enhancing and tumor inhibiting function
of Anbol.

Basic research on active components of Anbol in oncology treating.
The active components of Anbol were
mainly Anbol. The active components of Anbol had inhibiting effect
on rats carcinosarcoma W256 with a inhibiting rate as 37.7%, and
it can also prolong the life of E’s ascites cancer (EAC) mice
with a prolonging rate as 35.8. In another study, it was fund
to be able to inhibit the mutagenesis effect of the anti-tumor
drug mitomycin C, and could recover the immune function of radiate
damaged mice. The animal experiment by Liu Jielin etc. further
indicated that one of the tumor inhibiting mechanism of it was
the Anbol could enhance the tumor murine cell’s cell immune function,
that is, Anbol could recover and enhance the tumor murine’s number
of spleen cellsand the proliferating capability of activated T
cells, and significantly promote the activity of natural killer
cells and the secreting level of TNF. A series of studies had
been made by Wangling etc. in beijing on the immune regulation
function of Anbol to human with the results showed that Anbol
could significantly regulate the funciton of T cells, B cells,
cell toxic T cells, natural killler cellls and macrophage etc,
and had double direction regulating function to IL-2 and IL-3,
and promote the express of IL-2 receptor, and induce the production
of IL-6, TNF and has immune enhancing function in tumor immnunology
and neuroendocrine immune-regulating network, which provided basing
data to clinicle research.

Anbol combined with other chinese medicine to treat tumor
Deng Zemin etc. used Aitongning
composite mainly contained lycium barbarum L., membranous milkvetch
root, tangshen to treat 73 cases cancer pain suffer with 36 cases
of alleviation, the effective rate was 49.3%. Fuyuanchuai composite
was chinese herbs agent mainly contained lycium barbarum L., long
and white ginseng, and had both function of attacking and protecting.
Yu Xinchu used this composite to treat 102 cases differently kinds
of cancer patients, the results showed that 82 cases had the surviving
life of 4 to 9 years, 13 cases of 10 to 19years, and 7 cases to
20 ~27 years, which was really a good effect.
3. Anbol combined with radiation
therapy and chemical therapy to treat tumor
Sun Weijian etc. in military academy
of medical science have studied Anbol combined with radiation
therapy and BCNU to treat brain G422 tumor mice, the results showed
that combination of these three can not only produce coordinated
tumor inhibited effect, but also can significantly promote the
cell immune function of the tumor mice. In the clinical experiments,
the studies of Lu Changxing and Cheng Bingquan in Ningxia province
have all been demonstrated that lycium barbarum polysaccharides
combined with radiation therapy may have sensitivity enhancing
effect to primary lung cancer and lewis lung cancer. Liu Junian
etc. randomly divided the patients into Anbol plus radiation therapy
group and simply only radiation group, the results showed that
simply only radiation therapy group T3, T4 cell ratio, T4/T8 ratio,
lymphocyte transformation efficiency and macrohage phagocytosis
efficiency has been reduced after radiation therapy compared with
that before radiation therapy, and the cell number and lymphocyte
number in peripheral blood has also significantly lowered, while
Anbol plus radiation group other parameter than the remaining
unchanged cell number and lymphocyte number in peripheral blood
all significantly increased compared with that before radiation
therapy, which indicated that Anbol can enhance the immune function
of radiation therapy patients and has good auxiliary effect to
treating tumor. In many clinical experiment many researchers used
Anbol and gained good effect on the aspect of improving the significantly
lowed white blood cell counting, decreased quality of life etc.
with total effective rate of 82.6%~93.6%. Therefore, treating
tumor with Anbol combining radiation therapy and chemical therapy
can not only gain the expected effects, but also reduce the toxic
and side effect, enhance the quality of life, and so this method
is a effective method to treat tumor.
4.
Synergistic action of Anbol combined with biology therapy.
LAK/IL-2 activated by lymphocyte
can not only kill tumor cells, but also with broad tumor resisting
effect with minute toxic and side effect. Many physicians combined
LAK/IL-2 with Anbol to treat the patients and gained better effect
than only LAK/IL-2 therapy. In animal experiments, Anbol showed
regulation effect to the anti-tumor activity of mice LAK cells.
In clinical researchers the effect of Anbol combined with LAK/IL-2
therapy group for late stage tumor patient ( effective rate 40.9%)
was significantly better than simply LAK/IL-2 treated group (effective
rate 16.1%), and the remission lasting time of the former was
significantly better than the later, which indicated that Anbol
can enhance LAK/IL-2 therapy’s effect on late stage tumor.
